Online Course Evaluation Response Monitoring Tools

apple on keyboard

Starting Fall 2009, instructors and designated department representatives can monitor the response rates to all online course evaluations during the last two weeks of the semester when the window for submitting online course evaluations is open. In the interest of raising response rates to online course evaluations, response monitoring allows for targeted reminders to all non-respondents before the deadline for submitting online course evaluation responses.

IMPORTANT: These tools do not impact the anonymity of course evaluations since they do not reveal to the reviewer which students are targeted by the non-response email. Student responses are accessible only after grades are posted and are not associated with individuals. Instructors and department representatives can access current response rates via the Order Tracking function from the Main Menu of the online course evaluation management system. There are two functions:

  1. The current response rate is included as a percentage value in the list of current course evaluations under Order Tracking.

  2. An email function allows for easy contacting of all students who have not yet responded at the time the message is sent. Standard text is included, but instructors or department representatives are encouraged to customize the message for maximum effect. Click Email Tool to access the function for each course section separately.

For questions and concerns please contact Jean-Marc Wise, ODL Assistant Director for Assessment & Testing, 644-3541 or jwise@fsu.edu.
