CLA

pencils

The Collegiate Learning Assessment (CLA) is a method for assessing how well the university is achieving its educational goals for its students.

The CLA is not a multiple choice exam. It is a two part assessment in performance and analytical writing. Part One requires completion of a project, such as writing a letter or a short essay or report, on a particular topic. Part Two requires writing an analysis of a particular problem or situation that is provided in the assessment. All data, information, and material needed for the creation of a clear analytic statement of a problem and its solution are provided.

Registration and Payment

Scheduling for the CLA is done by the Undergraduate Studies Department Coordinator. Freshmen, Sophomores, and Seniors are chosen at random. Examinees will not be admitted if they were not chosen for the study.

Seating for the CLA is based upon scheduling. CAT does not handle scheduling. If there is a discrepancy, the examinee will be directed to the Undergraduate Studies Department Coordinator.

There is no payment necessary to take this exam. Participants will be awarded a gift certificate to the FSU Bookstore upon successful completion of the CLA. The examinee can acquire his/her gift certificate from the Undergraduate Studies Department Coordinator.
